Liechtenstein PostalMuseum

The museum (Liechtensteinisches PostMuseum) shows every stamp issued by the Pincipality in intricate detail. It is also home to a wide range of exhibits and documents providing insights into the development of the postal system since the 15th century.

Liechtenstein has been issuing its own stamps since 1912. Thanks to their artistic designs and elaborate production processes, stamps from Liechtenstein still have a special status in the world of philately today.

The majority of the stamps issued by Liechtenstein are on display in the permanent exhibition.

As early as the 15th century, the Lindau Postal Service operated between Lindau on Lake Constance and Milan, passing through present-day Liechtenstein. The route of this precursor to the modern postal service is shown in an interactive presentation.

The Museum provides a representative cross-section of the entire philately of the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Original sketches by de-signers, as well as printing plates and stamp sheets, show the creation process all the way through to the finished stamp.
