The Thal Nature Park

The Thal Nature Park (canton of Solothurn) is characterised by its special geographical location.
The park (139.39 km2) is characterised encompasses deep-cut valleys, the north-facing face of the Weissenstein and the hills of the second and third Jura chains.
The large forest areas, especially on the northern side of the first Jura chain, are also typical of the Thal. The park provides a habitat for many (endangered) plants and animals
The Park comprises eight different municipalities: Aedermannsdorf, Balsthal, Herbertswil, Holderbank, Laupersdorf, Matzendorf, Mümliswil-Ramiswil and Welschenrohr-Gänsbrunnen.
