Wolfgang Laib (1950) is considered one of the most important contemporary artists. His work is characterised by a deep relationship with nature and a striving for simplicity. Eastern philosophies from India have influenced his life and artistic practice since the 1970s.

Since his travels to India, he has been inspired by the idea of seeing humankind as part of a greater whole. He follows this way of life in his art as well. The artist works with natural materials such as pollen, rice, milk or beeswax.

The presentation of his works of art is set in a field of thousands of rice mounds that are related to the architectural features of the hall. Rice is a crucial food and symbolises vitality and life.
