The Watch Museum in Le Locle

The museum (Musée d’horlogerie du Locle) in the  Château des Monts is the offspring of a collection begun in 1849. An exhibition dedicated to the technical evolution of watches from the Renaissance to the present day.

The technical elements that allowed the watch to evolve to its modern-day precision are presented in 8 showcases in chronological order. The thematic exhibition deals with the comprehension and measurement of time.

Presented in a modern setting, in separate and distinct chapters, it deals with the industry preoccupation of measuring time, calendars, chronologies, and non-mechanical time measurements such as hourglasses and sundials.
