The museum (Paläontologische Museum Universität Zürich) displays one of the world’s most important collections of marine reptiles and fish from the Middle Triassic, some 235 to 245 million years ago.

These and the exceptionally well-preserved and scientifically valuable fossils from Monte San Giorgio, the UNESCO World Heritage Site in southern Ticino, form the core of the museum’s collection.

The zoological museum presents more than 1500 animals. the native animals are displayed on the ground floor, the animals from all over the world in their regions on the basement floor.

Fifty artworks of the artist nature are strikingly staged in a separate room. These magnificent fossils, true masterpieces, were created by this artist in her underground studio over the last 550 million years using pressure and minerals.
