Natural History Museum Basel

The earth sciences collections at the Natural History Museum Basel contains over four million objects. They witness to the history of the planet and the evolution of life. The earth sciences and biological collections have a long history. They have been established since 1661.  These collections are divided into the sections of anthropology, mineralogy and paleontology.

The biological collections include birds, mammals, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates, tiny animals, such as mites, and a beautiful collection of skeletons or replicas of extinct animals.
