The tropical forests

At a time when citizens are mobilising due to climate change, millions of hectares of forest are disappearing every year. To make the consequences understandable for the public, the  Botanical Garden of Neuchâtel presents tropical plants and trees in its greenhouses and in the open air along a route of drawings by the French botanist Francis Hallé (1938).

Topical Heritage

The exhibition (mémoires vives) is a collaboration with Visarte Fribourg. The exhibition explores the relationship between contemporary art and cultural heritage through selected works from the collection of the Museum of Art and History and L’Espace Jean Tinguely-Niki de Saint Phalle in Fribourg. Can this heritage (still) inspire contemporary art and if so, in what way?

The Wine Festival (Fête des Vignerons) is celebrated four to five times per century. The Festival started in the eighteenth century when the vineyard owners and wine producers of the region awarded the best wines and production facilities. It was not until 1927 that the first colour photography was able to record the colourful event. The exhibition gives an account of the colour photography of the Festival from 1927 to 1955.
