The windows of Königsfelden (canton Aargau) church are among the finest specimens of late medieval stained glass in Europe. The church and double monastery were founded in the fourtheenth century as a place of remembrance for the Habsburg dynasty and King Albrecht I (1255-1308) in particular. The church is a national heritage site and museum nowadays and presents the history of the House of Habsburg and the story of the monastery. Only the church survived the ravages of the Reformation (around 1530) and the French occupation (1798-1813). The ancient Roman fortresse Vindonissa is also nearby and worth a visit.
