Museums and art galleries

The museum is a centre for memories of the valley and displays its historical heritage, local culture, and art.

The first building dates from the twelfth century and was rebuilt as baroque castle and park in 1720. The castle presents a collection of furniture, paintings, clocks and other objects of bourgeois families from Bern, covering the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.  

The museum houses historical objects from all eras.

The museum (Heitmatmuseum) documents the history of the village and the old trade routes over the Lötschen and Gemmi passes.
