Museums and art galleries

The heart of the Kinemathek is still the cinema. In the Kinemathek, films and other cinematographic material are processed, professionally preserved and made accessible to the public.

Bears have been kept in Bern since 1513. Since 1857 the bears are housed at the same location in Nydeggstalden, from 2009 in the bear park.  

The garden is an oasis in the middle of the city and with a huge variety of about 5,500 plant species from all over the world, it is a garden of knowledge and a place to be.  

The Swiss National Library (die Schweizerische Nationalbibliothek) collects, catalogues and preserves information about Switzerland and makes it available to the public.
