The botanical Garden on the Brissago Islands of Lake Verbano cultivates around 1 700 plant species of the Mediterranean climate (the Mediterranean Basin, Chile, South Africa, Southwest Australia and California) and of the humid subtropical climate (in particular from Asia, but also from North and South America and Oceania).
