The museum (Kunst Museum Winterthur) is located at three different buildings: Beim Stadthaus, Reinhart am Stadtgarten and Villa Flora.
The collection holds a large collection of Modern and contemporary art and works by early Romanticism and Realism artists.
The collection also shows masterpieces from the Dutch and Flemish Golden Age, a selection of (Italian) portrait miniatures, a collection of French Impressionists and art from the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century (a.o. Ferdinand Hodler, Giovanni Giacometti, Edouard Manet, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Odilon Redon, Henri Matisse and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec).
