The museum presents the history from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century and gives an impression of life in a simple mountain village.

The history of the development of footwear over a period of more than 3000 years is illustrated. The Shoe Museum has one of the richest and most complete collections in the world.  

The museum exhibits more than 40 poetic machines by Paul Gugelmann (1929). What began as a children’s toy has developed into the mirror of humanity.

The permanent exhibition of the Foundation (Stiftung Ballyana) shows the authentic atmosphere of the industrial history and culture of the Bally company since 1851.
