The museum (Kunstmuseum) exhibits paintings, sculptures and other works of art from late Middle Ages, to Renaissance and Baroque, including a fine collection of Dutch Masters from the Golden Age. The collection further contains painting in the nineteenth century, the so-called Appenzeller Bauernmalerei, Hodler and Fin-de-Siècle, classical modernism and contemporary compositions.
